Jack Dempsey vs Georges Carpentier

This fight made history as the first million dollar gate in boxing which was an incredible amount of money at the time and was the first fight to be broadcast by radio.
Georges Carpentier a great light heavyweight was an exceptional boxer and could punch very hard for a man of his size and was  able to knockout much larger men.

However Dempsey was far to powerful and was in control throughout the fight. Georges did land some powerful punches to Dempsey but found they had little impact and Dempsey could simply walk through them.

Georges broke his thumb on Dempsey's jaw in the second round and took heavy punishment and was knocked out in the forth round after putting up a brave and spirited fight. Jack Dempsey was unmarked but Carpentier was badly cut and bruised and had been simply overwhelmed by the bigger man.
