Jack Sharkey was a hard hitting boxer who had worked his way into contention by defeating the likes of George Godfrey, Harry Wills and Mike McTigue.
Sharkey was winning the bout until being knocked out in the seventh round. Sharkey was hit with a borderline low blow and looked to the referee. Jack hit sharkey with a left hook to the jaw finishing the fight.
